Gas Main Replacement Projects

Taking Care of Business

Client

National Grid

Location

Staten Island, New York

Key Elements

  • Wetlands
  • Permitting support
  • Coordination with regulatory agencies

In response to proposed New York City stormwater and sewer projects, National Grid relocated and replaced gas mains throughout Staten Island.

The gas main projects have been installed via trenching and horizontal directional drilling. Many of the gas main replacement lines are in wetland adjacent areas requiring coordination with NYSDEC.

GEI provided permit support for these projects, completing freshwater and tidal wetland delineations and submitting the requisite permit applications and notice of commencement forms with required erosion control recommendations so this critical work can be completed.
