GEI provides support services for various types of NiSource projects including transmission and distribution pipeline maintenance, road improvements, casing removals, pipeline integrity assessments, pipeline replacements or repairs, and new utility construction.
GEI has conducted natural resource and environmental assessments on numerous project sites across northern Indiana to assist with permit acquisition and regulatory compliance. Services include desktop map reviews of potential natural resource and environmental risks, field surveys to delineate wetlands and streams or protected species habitat, surveys for and collection of suspect asbestos containing material, Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, sampling and analysis of soil and groundwater, and collection and management of project data in GIS databases.
In addition to these services, GEI assists NiSource by coordinating with project team members during project scoping to reduce potential impacts, developing regulatory permitting strategies, preparing natural resource and asbestos technical reports, identifying required environmental permits, developing stormwater pollution prevention plans and soil management plans, and submitting various federal, state, and local environmental permit applications.
