Lisa Reyenga, Tom Daigle, and Rick Ahlers recently represented GEI at the AEHS Foundation 30th Annual International Conference on Soil, Water, Energy, and Air that was conducted virtually in March 2021. Lisa’s presentation, Natural Source Zone Depletion (NSZD) Estimation with Multiple Permeable Zones and Confined Non-aqueous phase liquids (LNAPL), demonstrated how different methods of NSZD assessment are appropriate depending on the hydrogeology of the site and NAPL impacts. Tom’s presentation, NAPL Mobility in Sediments: Categorizing NAPL Migration Potential Using a Multiple Lines of Evidence Approach, showed how GEI is working to assess the risk of NAPL in sediment so that our client can focus their remedial efforts where they will reduce risk. Rick chaired the NSZD session where Lisa and other industry experts discussed the ongoing evolution of methods to assess NSZD rates at sites and demonstrate that source zones are naturally depleting.
