Industry veterans strengthen GEI’s energy services nationwide

MARQUETTE, MI (October 31, 2022) – Ken Kytta, P.E. and Matt Peramaki, P.E. have joined GEI Consultants as Senior Consultants and Vice Presidents. Together, Ken and Matt bring more than 60 years of experience supporting clients in the energy sector. Based in GEI’s Marquette, Michigan office, both Matt and Ken will support service offerings to all GEI’s linear projects across the firm, with a focus on the energy sector.

Ken has worked on diverse projects throughout the U.S., with both public and private industries in more than 20 states. He has managed multiple projects simultaneously, ranging from a few thousand dollars, to long-term, multi-million-dollar contracts. These projects cross a wide spectrum of civil/environmental disciplines including hazardous waste investigations and cleanups, hydrogeological investigations, landfill permitting, LFG utilization and recovery, pipeline design, and federal environmental assessments.

Matt has nationwide experience in the environmental issues associated with midstream/pipeline and industrial clients. He has specialized experience in site remediation, large-scale emergency response for crude oil, refined products and natural gas projects, spill response planning, environmental compliance, pre-construction environmental permitting, due diligence, and environmental liability management.

“Matt and Ken bring tremendous strength to GEI’s environmental consulting team, not just in our central region, but nationwide,” says Scott Wallington, GEI’s Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer. “They are renowned for their abilities to deliver full services for a project’s life cycle. They not only have the expertise and the client service capabilities, they have extensive experience mentoring staff and volunteering in the community. With Ken and Matt on our team, 1 + 1 really equals 3.”

“I came to GEI because of the great company culture for employees and the company-wide focus on meeting client needs,” says Ken. “Our vision is to expand the already-diverse service offerings of GEI’s national energy practice. We’re excited to serve the environmental planning, permitting, compliance, and asset integrity needs of the oil and gas and power industries.”

“GEI was an attractive firm for us due to the combination of geographic reach, technical expertise, and client-first focus; as well as the deep experience providing engineering and environmental services to power, energy, and mining clients,” says Matt. “Ken and I wanted to join the renowned GEI team that serves the needs of the oil and gas industry in the United States and Canada.”
